I’m 3 weeks shy of turning 70 and been overweight my entire life. Probably Gained and lost 10,000 pounds or more in the last 60 years. I’ve tried everything at least once except surgery. The only thing that has truly worked for me is putting less food in my mouth, eating healthy and tracking my weight. My highest weight has been 286 and this morning I weighed 221. 17# gone since 1/1/22. Slow and easy and it stays off. My head ( at 70) is finally in the right place and I’m praying it stays there.

I’ve had a brain surgery, tumor removed, so there’s no exercise for me. It’s all in what I choose to put in my mouth. Plain and simple. I’m so sad it took me all these years to figure it out. Listen to this old lady and do what works for you BUT DO IT NOW.

I have a VERY unhealthy relationship with food. If I am sad? I eat! If I am happy and want to celebrate? I eat! My life has revolved around food my entire life. I have tried every diet under the sun and just gained every pound back. I started NOOM at the beginning of February and it has been a life changer! It has taught me so much about how to eat without restricting a certain food group. They have daily lessons you take which has really helped with my food addiction. I am not all the way there yet but it has been the only "diet" so far that I can see as sustainable. I love it!

In February of last uear, my husband and I had a discussion about our weight and overall health. I told him I was concerned about our future. I told him I wanted us to have a healthy old age (ok, older age). And I told him I had teied to lose weight before, but it's hard alone. We started the very next day cuttibg back on portions and walking on the treadmill ..just 10 minutes a day at first. On May 4th, I joined NOOM. In total, my husband has lost 90 lbs and I've lost just shy of 70. Three things were key for me: learning that there are no bad foods, just foods you should eat less of and less often; finding something that I can live with forever, not just a fad diet where I lose weight and gain it right back when I stop the "diet"; and logging EVERYTHING I eat. I never thought I ate a lot. I was wrong. I understand so much more about portion sizes and how much I should be eating. I still have 30 lbs or so to go, and it might take me another year to lose it, and that's ok. I think I've made changes that I can sustain for a lifetime.

I burnt my ship with you in January. I started really paying attention to my portion sizes and not eating out 6 days a week. Then...my house burnt down. In February. So 5 weeks in a hotel and every meal take out or a microwave mac and cheese later I was the biggest I have ever been. 249 pounds is a lot to carry on a 5'2" frame. I started Noom. I have to write down what I eat and I am learning psycho things and in 2.5 weeks I am down 11 pounds. And I'm not starving! And I am making appointments to take care of my health. I had 3 different kinds of cancer st the same time 11 years ago and I am a little bit afraid of doctors now....

Thank you for your openness it kicked me into a jumpstart 💙

I’ve had a lifetime of diets. Then came you and your burning bridges! 😘

The beginning of January, I started counting calories. Then somewhere...(on here?) I read about a program called Eat Like A Bear! by Amanda Rose. ( If you’re interested, check out her YouTube video, A Postcard from Yellowstone.) She developed it a few years ago. It’s a mixture of Keto and intermittent fasting. I began following the program on February 17th, Ash Wednesday.

I’ve lost about 25 lbs and am now wearing some XL clothes (from 2-3x). My inflammation is so much better and I can move without pain!

Approximately 100 people have lost 100 lbs or more, with this program, and countless others have found new life. The community’s motto is No drugs, no surgery, no special branded products. Required: your own bootstraps!

I’m using an app called fiton. You can pay for the premium version but the free version is huge and I haven’t needed to upgrade. It has a TON of different exercise programs and workouts for EVERY entry level. It ranges from low to high intensity and you can chose whatever works for you. Did I mention free???? I was using the new Apple fitness program but when I found this I canceled with Apple. Immediately!!

I read the book The 40-Day Sugar Fast by Wendy Speake. I joined the Facebook group and did it with a whole group of women so we were all in withdrawal together! Misery loves company. I just loved how it pointed to Jesus at every step and I’ve never encountered a diet that has done that. It very much deals with food/sugar as an addiction, which I know you’ve mentioned. The group didn’t require you to cut any kind of sugar either. It was very much about cutting what you felt you wanted to work on. Some did all sugar and carbs, for me, it was about cutting refined sugars. It was hard but I’m so down for a “diet” that ties in with my time with God and keeps me focused on Him!

Right now I am really enjoying the podcasts Losing 100 pounds with Corinne Crabtree--there is a paid program--No BS Weight Loss-- but there is also lots of free content. I have not joined, yet, but, with the help of the free content, I am down 34 pounds--post menopause. :)

I’ve been doing a program (Optavia) since March 15th, so exactly 1 month today and I’m down 13.4 lbs. For me it’s been fairly easy, and I haven’t started working out yet.

I’ve recently read The Obesity Code and then Fast Feast Repeat. I’ve been dedicated to Intermittent Fasting for the past 2 plus weeks. I’ve played around with it before but didn’t really know the whys of doing it, insulin resistance and the healing aspects of it. I think I’ve found my thing. This seems to work for this 48 year old lady! After a complete hysterectomy and instant menopause, the things that worked before didn’t work anymore. I’ve committed to sticking with this. Losing weight, feeling emotionally better, more energy, and feeling like I’m defeating the emotional eating monster. 🤷‍♀️

Fave food right now is avocado toast with bacon. Exercise...well I need to start moving! That hasn’t happened yet! Looking forward to reading everyone’s posts on this topic!

The book that completely changed my perspective of weight loss and overall health and how our body works was The Obesity Code by Jason Fung. It allowed me to forgive myself for past 'failures' and helped me understand that it wasn't that I just didn't try hard enough or that I was lazy. It gave me a new way to reclaim my health and set me on a new path. It's slow, but steady, and I feel a lot better and more accepting of my body as it is right now. As for workouts, I've LOVED Les Mills on Demand - most specifically BodyPump and Sh'bam!

I bought a spinning bike and signed up for iFit and “ride” my bike all over like French Polynesian islands, Tombstone Arizona, places in Idaho, etc. I hike with my dog along the river or in the foothills. Makes me feel healthy and close to God. Is the weight falling off? No, but I’m learning to give myself grace and love this incredible body God gave me.

You might think I’m crazy but I was a diabetic and had about 50 lbs of excess weight and I could not eat healthy! My diabetes with 2 types of insulin and 2 pills taken multiple times a day was just costing so much even though I had good insurance. I didn’t qualify for weight loss surgery because my BMI was not high enough. I decided that I would find out what it cost to self pay for it and that’s what I did. I had surgery, it cost me 14,895 plus a couple hundred for labs. It took me only 3 to 4 months and I’ve lost 50 pounds and most importantly I now take nothing for diabetes, off 2 blood pressure meds and cholesterol meds. I feel great and know the money was well spent! Wish I had done it sooner! They even have payment plans if you don’t have the money available right then. Wore plus sizes before (which cost more and not much to choose from) now I wear 8 skinny jeans and small to med tops and dresses.

Hi I started walking on Jan 1, 2021 and have only missed one day (was in the car for 9 hours... hotel bed was too comfy)

My husband walks every single night snd has been asking me for our entire relationship (over 10 years) if I wanted to go with him. No I would say as I was shoving chips in my mouth. No I would say as I was laying on the couch. No matter how many times I said No he never stopped asking. Then I was perusing the net and I read this post about burning your boats. I decided right then I was going to say yes the next time my husband asked me to go on a walk. Going on a walk has become our nightly thing. It’s been super great for me, my mood especially and our marriage. We walk at least 1 mile (the farthest is 3 miles) every night. If it wasn’t for your burning boats post I would still be laying on the couch shoving chips in my mouth while saying No I’m too tired to go on a walk. You Mrs Melissa have improved my life ((((hugs)))

I started taking Barre classes last year and really enjoyed it. Low impact and it focuses on making your body strong. Then at the beginning of this year the studio I go to started offering Bounce classes which is basically HIIT using trampolines. So I bought a Shefit sports bra (expensive but worth every penny if you are big busted), strapped the girls in, and gave it a shot. Turns out I LOVE bounce and even though I’m not very good at it I laugh through the entire class. Bonus, it’s low impact and I’ve already noticed changes in my body. Now there is no other way I want to start my weekend than with a Bounce class followed by a smoothie from the place next door. Finding something fun that I love to do has really been the key for me to consistently work out. It’s made me ultra dedicated and I find myself setting fitness goals I never thought I would have!

You help me so much. I had to go on disability last May. I’m not a small person at all. Then in August Laura hit then In September I got COVID then Delta hit. December I started loosing my hair from COVID. I gained weight from being on the meds in the hospital to get over the COVID pneumonia. And our home is still not repaired. Makes you depressed and want to eat too much. I like to watch your videos and read your articles. Ty so much for the laughter.

I really hope this is ok to comment here, because this has to do with emotional health rather than physical health, however there is a direct link between the two! I highly recommend the book “Generations Deep,” which explores dysfunction and trauma that may have occurred in previous generations of your family, but continues to affect you now. Working through it brings release and freedom, allowing you to move forward “lighter!” Generations Deep: Unmasking Inherited ... https://www.amazon.com/dp/1732954526?psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&ref_=cm_sw_r_api_typT1_49jCGbA5PX5A5
