Do you want to know one of my all-time favorite things about summer? It’s the books that come out. That’s right. Going to Barnes and Noble, picking out a summer thriller that I can read on the beach and then coming home to find out that David Radke has once again nixed our summer beach trip because “this is what happens when we eat out too much,” has really become a rite of passage for me.
Aaaaahhhhh, summer. There’s nothing like a great book and a cheap husband to really make it perfect.
I know the Radke Family Membership is sick to death of hearing me sing the praises of these books, but last summer (and during quarantine) my book list consisted of only two books and I still talk about both of them to this day. I have raved about them from the moment I finished them and I have yet to shut up.
American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins was seriously a thrill-ride from beginning to end. A story of family, drug cartels, fleeing your country for safety and parenting – all rolled into one and I cannot say enough about it. I loved it! I thought about passing it on to someone who I knew would appreciate it, but I didn’t in case I want to go back to it again in the future.
I certainly did not expect Fast. Feast. Repeat. By Gin Stephens to be on the top of my summer reading list, but I had been so curious about Intermittent Fasting and so when I picked up a book by an author who not only understood IF but could explain it in terms even I could understand…I was hooked. Gin’s book was an easy read and for anyone who is interested in the IF lifestyle and what it can do to completely shift their health, should buy it asap!
But this is a new summer, and I am on the lookout for a new book. I would love to know what you’ve recently read that has stuck with you or something you’ve heard about from someone else. The last time I asked this questions someone recommended Where the Crawdads Sing and I loved that one, so needless to say, I trust y’all.
I have recently heard about a new thriller that is really good called The Plot by Jean Hanff Korelitz so I just purchased that one. I’ll keep you posted on it after I’m done. But in the meantime, what is it you’re reading? I would love nothing more than to purchase a great book, throw it in my beach bag and then take it outside with me to my backyard because I can’t afford a beach vacation due to my “insane need for Chick-Fil-A” which “adds up over time,” according to you-know-who.
Please don’t tell him I’m asking about new summer books. I tend to spend a little too much on books. And Chick-Fil-A. I regret, nothing.
I just finished Greenlights.........Matthew McConaughey's new autobiography. Not only was it a good read, there are several pictures of him throughout the book...........icing on the cake! I hope you enjoy it if you read it. You are the BEST Melissa.........keep being you! XOXO
Anything and everything by Kristin Hannah but The Nightingale is one of my all time favorite books. Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers is also one I have read numerous times.
