Am I nuts or are skorts all the rage?? Everywhere I look are dresses with shorts under them, skirts with shorts under them and shorts that look like skirts. The other day I was sitting in my parents living room and my dad said, “Melissa Paige, do you mind??” He pointed to how I was sitting. Apparently it wasn’t very lady-like. I crossed my legs and said, “Oh, sorry, I forgot what I had on.”
I can’t remember from one day to the next if there are shorts underneath my skirt. But rest assured, if it’s up to me? There Is! I love how comfy, cute, comfy, stylish and comfy they are. (Did I mention comfy?)
My mother taught me a long time ago that if you find something that fits and works for you: get it in several colors. And I follow that rule to this day. So, let’s take a look at a couple things that have been so nice, I had to buy them THRICE. (I think that’s a King James Version word.)
Say hello to the QVC Seersucker Skort. I have talked about this online a few different times and honestly, I’m starting to get a little embarrassed. People probably think I have no other clothes. I do, of course, I just never want to wear them. This skort is the most comfortable thing I have bought in ages! And every time I wear it someone asks about it, so yeah - that was my sign to purchase it in 3 colors. You can’t tell very well in this picture but this is the super light lilac color. Just a slight hint of purple and it’s perfect for spring and summer. The very first one I bought was an XXL but I quickly learned they run large, so size down.
And don’t even start with me and my Birkenstocks, mmmkay? You’re not gonna get me outta them, this summer.
I’ve paired my skort with the T-shirt I created that says, “Let’s Talk About Jesus and Your Eyebrows.” I have sold a thousand of these because so many of you have a great sense of humor - but I cannot help but think of the woman who wrote me a direct message and said, “More people would like you if you didn’t place such an importance on eyebrows. You are so superficial it makes me sick.”
How did my mom learn to DM?
The OG. This was the first seersucker skort I bought; the green one and this was when I knew I was in love. I’ve paired it here with my Hollister Malibu sweatshirt. I have recently discovered Hollister has extended sizes and y’all! I like so much of their stuff; it’s really becoming a go-to place for me. And it’s not because their clothes are young, it’s because their clothes are comfortable and laid back.
Also, y’all please stand amazed at my faux plants. Man, you want to know how to make someone mad? Tell them you’re using fake plants. Some people have a real problem with this and honestly, I used to be one of them. But I guess this just goes to show you how far we’ve come in the faux plants/flowers world. I’m telling you, you cannot tell the difference in those hydrangeas in that plantar and the real ones you see at Lowe’s. I absolutely love them! I bought several of these colored smaller spring flowers from Amazon and these adorable white ones and they fill up several smaller planters around my front porch and side area near my grill. I even put them in the window boxes at the front of my house and they are so pretty. That’s not to say that some I have bought aren’t horrible! They are! I just bought some big white flowers that look like a kindergartner made them in crafts. But I buy crap, so that y’all don’t have to. So be sure and click the links to some of my favorites. I did not add the link to the ugly, fake, white flowers, but if that woman who hates my eyebrow T-shirt ever writes me another nasty DM - I just may mail them to her house. You’ll need this for your faux plants too!
Here’s the Seersucker skort in yellow. I told you I bought them THRICE!
I paired this one with my new Amalfi Coast relaxed T-shirt from Hollister. I’m loving their T-shirts. They are built for a woman’s body. Not boxy, not cheaply made. I didn’t get a picture of the back, so I added one here for your viewing pleasure. I’m wearing an xxl.
On the subject of “skorts,” I wanted to share this latest one with you. It’s not seersucker, so hush! It’s from Hollister though, and I love it. It’s their Tiered Layers Skort. So what do you think I did? I ordered it in two more colors; navy and light blue. It’s a banded elastic waist, so it’s way room (you may want to size down.) I am wearing an xxl in this first pic, but the other two I ordered I went down to an xl. They are very comfortable and very feminine looking, which is nice if you’re putting it with a relaxed T-shirt.
Don’t ask me where I got the So Freaking Valuable t-shirt. I have had it for 1,000 years. I’ve also had those Adidas Gazelle’s forever, and looky what happened? They came back in style! So what have we learned today, kids? Never throw anything away! Now, people ask me where I got them all the time! They’re also “mens” but that means nothing in Adidas; just Google what size that correlates to in women’s and snag yours!
I guess that’s it for this week. Ohhhh, Spring is here and I can smell the fake flowers and shop for adorable skorts alllll the livelong day. Have you found a skort you can’t live without? If so, PLEASE TELL YOUR GIRLFRIEND!
Love you. Mean it.
Mel
You look great!
Um. How are you not a top model? Those poses alone should make you a shoe in! I’ve always loved skorts but being a rounder gal I wasn’t sure if I should- but now being rounder AND of a certain age- I no longer care what folks think and Imma wear them!
Thank for the inspo! ♥️
