What I’m Watching
Wild Crime - Hulu
I misunderstood this show when I first read about it. I thought it was a series about all of the murders that have happened in National Parks and I just thought, “Dang…how many could there possibly be?” So I stayed away from it. But then I gave in. And I’m so glad I did. I love true crime and this story was a good one. You may remember this story from the early 90’s and I’m sure it’s been on Dateline or 48 Hours, but stick with it till the end because as my momma always says, “There’s something very wrong with that man.”
Godless - Netflix
Y’all! What was I doing in 2017? It must’ve been very important because I missed this eight episode series, altogether. I’m a lover of Westerns (this is a weird fact about me, I know) and this one did not disappoint! It’s so good. Jeff Daniels is the bad guy and as amazing as he is I just kept thinking about Harry Dunne and Lloyd Christmas and then he didn’t seem so scary. Also, the scene in Godless where we find out why (and when) the sheriff began to love Lady Mary Crawley made me emotional!! Did anyone else find that both disturbing and yet so beautiful all at once? Godless has action and romance and handsome cowboys and Lady Mary Crawley with an American accent! Plus Jeff Daniels and Merrit Weaver both won Emmys for their roles, so, you know, the acting isn’t half bad.
What I’m Reading
I recently received a text from my girlfriend, Tara, who told me that she knew what kind of books I liked and that I would love B.A. Paris’ book, Behind Closed Doors. I’m always nervous trying out a new writer until I’m sure I’ll like them, so I went and checked it out at the library because as you know: YA GURL IS CHEAP. Tara was right!!! I loved it. It is creepy and mysterious and tense and dramatic (omg, I just described a holiday meal with my family.) I also thought it was as super easy read. Give me a few really good characters as opposed to 87 first and last names that I have to remember along with who’s married to who….uugghhh! I’m now off to scour the library for alllllll of the B.A. Paris books. I like me some creepiness in the fall / winter. Any y’all want to recommend?
What I’m Listening To
The Things About Pam - Dateline Podcast
I do love me a good true crime podcast and this one was great! The story was good, the length was good and it was narrated by Keith Morrison and I don’t have to tell you: he is perfection! Obviously I’m not giving too much away by letting you know that Pam is the real problem in this story (see the title) and all I want to say about Pam is this: I have known a Pam or two in my day. No doubt you have to. As my Granny so eloquently said at a very loud volume when we took her out to see The Help, in theaters: “I’VE SEEN HER KIND BEFORE!” (My Granny had a real problem with elitists.) Pam is the reason boundaries in our friendships are very important!! #whacko Also, important to note, a series is being made about this story and Renee Zellweger is set to play Pam, so there ya go.
What I’m Loving
Y’all are gonna say that the only reason I’m bringing this up is because I’m a Lange girl! But that’s not true! I’m not here to sell you anything. But I am going to tell you about something if it’s really good.
If you have flyaways, or frizz, then I have never tried anything that has worked as well for me as Glass Hair Blowout Primer by Lange. It’s activated by the heat of your blow dryer so spray it all over before you start drying. It smooths out my frizz-prone hair and keeps it smooth and sleek all day. I didn’t wanna love it - but I did. Oh! And if you do end up getting it, give ya gurl some credit: click here.
P.S. Make sure you are catching the Live morning show, Rise & Radke this week on Melissa’s Facebook page. Be sure to watch the show from today with our guest Leanne Morgan.
