My kids were in 1st and 3rd grade when I started my Facebook page that I was positive no one would ever even look at. Today Remi and Rocco are both in high school. And that Facebook page has over 600k followers. Needless to say, I been doin’ this social media thing for quiiiite a while. During that time I have given parenting advice, eaten crow about my parenting advice, told you how to fix your hair, what to do with your eyebrows, begged for your help on how to decorate my house, talked openly about my marriage, shared my faith, questioned my faith, gained weight, lost weight, cried, laughed and everything in between.
It’s been quite a ride.
But something very interesting happened in September of 2019 that I had not yet experienced with social media; David and I sat down in front of the screen, together. It was a regular morning and we had just shipped our kids off to school. We were having a debate and we needed the internet to referee. So we picked up my phone, went LIVE on Facebook and the rest is history.
From that small, insignificant decision - a morning show was born. Rise and Radke became the name of 30 minutes of “chatting” that the world got to watch a husband and wife do, five days a week, on Facebook. We were completely in shock over the number of people who showed up on the daily to watch two regular people talk about their kids, their finances, each other, pop culture, celebrity crushes and their most recent hemorrhoid surgery.
Today, Rise and Radke has helped launch the every growing monthly membership group, The Radke Family, and has aired over 1,000 episodes! 1,000 y’all! (I have sat still for 1,000 episodes. This is a really big deal!) We have moved our “little show that could” from Facebook to the Melissa Radke app - and now, we are moving it again. And, we hope you’ll follow us!
Beginning Monday, September 18th, The Radke Show (formerly Rise & Radke) will be moving to YouTube. That’s right! I got my very own YouTube channel and I’m not afraid to use it.
All you have to do to follow along on this new part of our journey is head over to the Melissa Radke YouTube channel, - and then click to be a subscriber. This doesn’t cost you a cent. YouTube is free! Once you’ve subscribed be sure to click the little bell icon so you will get a notification every time we go LIVE. Then make sure to join us weekday mornings at 9am CST. Can’t watch us LIVE? That’s okay, each episode will be posted and ready for you to watch whenever your IBS kicks in.
You can watch us on your phones, on your way to work, on your desktop, on the treadmill, on the bus, in an Uber, or you can cast us from your phone onto your television set because I tend to look even more stunning in high quality 4k. (Look everyone! It’s facial hair!)
You don’t have to have watched a single past episode to know exactly what is going on. It’s still just David and I, being David and I. It’s still just two people who are madly in love trying to figure it all out. It’s still just us two trying to look somewhat professional without any formal technical training to speak of. And it’s still just us trying to bring a little bit of humor (and a whole lot of joy) into your morning. I personally think we are pretty good at this. I think you should give us a try and see if we don’t win you over!
I hope you’ll be a part of this new season of our journey. Heck, even if you never watch a single episode, at least go follow me on YouTube…you never know what I might end up doing (or saying!) and having you all along for the ride these last few years has been one of the highlights of my entire social media experience. If I know us…and I do…it’s about to get even better!
See you on the ‘Tube.
Melissa
